I Need a Hobby

Seriously. There is only so much gardening and landscaping a man can do before he gets really bored. I start my job (camp counselor!) in like two weeks, but until then, I have oodles of free time on my hands. I’ve tried playing video games. Nope. Boring and they make me feel guilty about wasting daylight. I could drive around and visit, like, the mall or something. But then I’d buy stuff, and with Ireland coming up I really can’t spend much extra cash. I’ve been reading, or trying to, but the fact that I can’t handle complete silence means I need the TV or some music on in the background. BUT, if whatever book I’m reading has a slow part (like, idk, Walden (I love you, Thoreau, but there are just so many times I can read about how clean and tasty your pond’s water is)), I often find myself diverting my attention.

I was thinking about buying Rosetta Stone and learning a language. Maybe french. For the fourth time (for real). Two factors nix this guy. 1: Rosetta Stones are not free, and I, dear friends, am a miser. 2: Same reason as video games.

I think, for now, I’ll just head over to Zenhabits and browse Leo’s ideas. If anyone else has found something particularly wonderful and would like to share, do so by all means!

Edit: I do play A video game…Fifa ‘08. If Chelsea can’t win the Champions’ League in real life, even though they were winning on penalties and only needed the captain to make ONE FUCKING SHOT to take the silverware, I at least can get the glory in the virtual world. I am good. Play me if you dare.

Straight Hair? If straightening didn’t scare me with its heat and its flames, I wouldn’t mind having silky smooth, softly soft locks. Also: Corley, you should come home so that we can be unemployed together. AND I bought a domain name today. worldawaiting.com. Let’s see where that goes.

why not?

I have decided to try my hand at blogging.

My sister, Corley, has a tumblr. Corley.tumbler.com, to be precise. It looks mighty fine. This is one factor.

I also just got a mac, a Pro, and I feel like I’d be lame and wasteful if I didn’t use it for something creative besides taking pictures of myself after I work out. Let me use this small stage to declare that I, Daniel, was wrong about Apple and their products. I’ll not turn my coat completely and denounce all things PC, but this Mac is pretty stellar.

Well, let’s get this experiment under way.
